Punjab Chief Minister dedicates water treatment plants in Patiala
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has inaugurated two water treatment plants in the Patiala district, located at Mandoli and Pabri. Built at a combined cost of approximately ₹432.65 crore, the facilities are designed to provide clean, canal-based drinking water to 316 villages across five assembly constituencies.
The project utilizes a 752-kilometre pipeline network to serve an estimated 4.5 lakh residents and 75,000 households. This initiative aims to mitigate the risks associated with groundwater contamination, specifically addressing high concentrations of fluoride and heavy metals in the region.
To ensure long-term efficiency, the government has established water testing laboratories and implemented a SCADA system for continuous monitoring of the supply network. The executing company has also been assigned responsibility for operation and maintenance for a period of 10 years.
