Punjab Chief Minister launches Rs1.99 trillion PIVOT economic plan

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has officially launched the Punjab Innovation, Value Addition and Economic Transformation (PIVOT) Plan 2026–29. The Rs1,995.3 billion economic strategy is designed to transform the region into an export-led industrial hub.

The roadmap aims to achieve $6.8 billion in incremental exports and create 162,000 new direct jobs, while supporting over one million livelihoods. The initiative focuses on a growth model driven by industry, innovation, and value addition to encourage business investment and expansion.

The launch event included a wide range of stakeholders, including State Bank of Pakistan Governor Jameel Ahmad, prominent business figures, and senior government officials. International participation was also noted, with representatives from the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and United Nations organisations in attendance.
