Punjab Chief Minister removes three sanitation officials

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered the immediate removal of the Managing Directors (MDs) of WASA in Kasur, Faisalabad, and Okara due to unsatisfactory sanitation conditions. The decision followed a high-level meeting to review the progress of the ‘Suthra Punjab’ cleanliness programme. The Chief Minister specified that officials removed for poor performance will not be granted alternative assignments.

To improve oversight, Field Monitoring Officers (FMOs) will be equipped with body cameras for real-time activity tracking. Deputy Commissioners have been directed to conduct daily supervision of these officers, and a dedicated monitoring wing will be established.

Additional measures include a 15-day deadline to complete the province-wide implementation of a door-to-door waste collection system and the full activation of the ‘Suthra Punjab Beat System’. The government is also utilizing Safe City surveillance cameras to issue digital e-challans for anti-littering violations.
