Punjab CM announces free heart transplants and electric buses

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced several new public welfare initiatives aimed at improving healthcare and infrastructure across the province. During the inauguration of the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology, she unveiled plans to provide free heart transplant procedures to deserving patients and distribute home dialysis machines to support patients requiring regular treatment.

The newly established Maryam Nawaz Heart Transplant Centre is Pakistan’s first dedicated facility for heart transplantation. The institute features advanced medical technology, including AI-enabled services, a Tesla MRI, and a 640-slice CT scanner, alongside six catheterisation laboratories and five operation theatres.

In addition to healthcare expansions, the Chief Minister announced the upcoming launch of an electric bus service in Multan to improve traffic management and passenger convenience. She also highlighted multi-billion-rupee projects intended to restore historic sites in Multan, such as Qila Kohna Qasim Bagh, to promote tourism and preserve the city's heritage.
