Punjab CM announces projects to honor Bhagat Singh

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann addressed the ‘Jashan-e-Inquilab’ programme at Punjab Agricultural University in Ludhiana to commemorate the birth anniversary of revolutionary martyr Bhagat Singh. During the event, Mann outlined several initiatives undertaken by his government to honor Singh’s legacy and promote the values of patriotism, equality, and justice.

Key projects mentioned include the development of a ₹52-crore Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Heritage Complex at Khatkar Kalan, intended to transform the martyr’s ancestral village into a national heritage, educational, and cultural tourism destination. Other measures include naming the Mohali airport after Bhagat Singh, installing a 30-foot bronze statue at Nishan-e-Inquilab Plaza, and displaying portraits of Singh and B.R. Ambedkar in government offices.

Mann also highlighted improvements in Punjab’s education sector, noting that the state has moved from a low national ranking to the top position in central government rankings through the establishment of ‘Schools of Eminence’ and international teacher training programs.
