Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann alleges harassment at Delhi Airport
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has alleged that he was harassed by customs officials at Delhi Airport following his return from a trip to France. Speaking in the Punjab Assembly, Mann claimed he was detained for approximately two hours while officials inspected his luggage. He stated that no objectionable items were found during the search.
Mann further alleged that despite the lack of findings, officials pressured him to pay an arbitrary fine of 50,000 rupees. He claimed that officials indicated they were acting under pressure from higher authorities.
The Chief Minister also leveled political accusations, claiming that the head of the customs department at Delhi Airport is Manish, the brother of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Mann suggested the incident was an act of retaliation by political opponents. The customs department has not yet provided an official explanation regarding the inspection or the alleged fine.
