Punjab Congress chief dismisses internal rift ahead of state elections

Punjab Congress state president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring said there is no factionalism or rift within the party as reports linked former chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi to internal dissent. He described any recent meetings at Channi’s residence as normal party activity and emphasized that senior leaders share a single goal of returning Congress to power in Punjab.

Warring also pledged disciplinary action against anyone who spreads disunity, while asserting that the party will fight together for Punjab in the upcoming assembly elections. He reiterated that decisions on the chief‑ministerial candidate rest with the national high command, including party president Mallikarjun Kharge and opposition leader Rahul Gandhi.
