Punjab Congress chief slams CM Mann over escalating drug crisis

Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring has accused Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of failing to address a worsening drug crisis in the state. During a press conference, Warring alleged that drug addiction has increased fourfold and claimed that narcotics are being delivered to households with the ease of “pizza and burgers,” with single pouches reportedly costing ₹3,500.

Warring criticized the state government for allegedly diverting attention from the issue and questioned the effectiveness of anti-drug campaigns despite significant expenditure. He noted that reports from August 14 to August 20 indicated seven to eight deaths related to drug use.

The Ludhiana MP also raised concerns regarding accountability within the police force, questioning why no actions have been taken against local SSPs or Police Commissioners despite previous government commitments to hold them responsible for drug-related deaths.
