Punjab Congress chief urges India to summon US and UK diplomats over Sikh racial attacks

Punjab Congress President Amrinder Singh Raja Warring has written to Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, urging the government to summon diplomats from the United States and the United Kingdom. The request follows reports of racial attacks targeting the Sikh community in both nations.

Warring highlighted a severe incident in Wyoming, USA, where a Sikh individual was reportedly stabbed seventeen times in a racial attack on September 13. He linked these tensions to a controversial advertisement issued by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on September 9, which contained the phrase, ‘Get off our roads, you don’t know how to drive, Mr. Singh’. Although the advertisement was later withdrawn, Warring claims it contributed to racial profiling and physical violence against turbaned drivers.

Additionally, Warring cited an attack on a Sikh bus driver in England on September 18. He expressed concern that these incidents have created a sense of fear among Sikh drivers and caused widespread anguish within the global Sikh community.
