Punjab EOC intensifies polio eradication efforts

The Punjab Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) has emphasized the need for continuous and intensified measures to combat the polio virus in the province. EOC Coordinator Khalid Parvez presided over a meeting with relevant districts to prepare for the upcoming Special National Immunization Days (SNID) starting September 21.

During the meeting, officials reviewed preparations, training, micro-planning, and dashboard reporting. Parvez noted that while Punjab has achieved encouraging progress—with environmental samples currently testing negative for the virus—there is no room for negligence. He stressed the importance of closing all operational gaps to maintain a zero-polio status.

Specific instructions were issued to address gaps in training quality and reporting accuracy. Additionally, district officials were directed to review micro-plans, particularly for border areas and mobile populations, to prevent the reintroduction of the virus from neighboring provinces or regions.
