Punjab expands startup ecosystem with new Mohali incubation centre

The Punjab Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) to establish the ‘Startup Punjab Hub – Neuron 2.0’ in Mohali. The project involves a ₹29 crore investment, with ₹12 crore provided by the state government and ₹17 crore from STPI.

Building on the success of Neuron 1.0, which supported 114 startups and created approximately 2,700 jobs, the new facility will focus on cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, data analytics, the Internet of Things (IoT), and audio-visual graphics. The hub aims to nurture at least 50 startups over the next five years and provide training for 2,000 professionals.

In a separate initiative to foster early-stage innovation, DCM Young Entrepreneurs School in Ludhiana has signed an MoU with Startup Punjab. This partnership aims to connect student innovators with mentorship, incubation support, and industry networking to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world entrepreneurship.
