Punjab approves 120% salary hike for Adarsh School teachers

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has approved a salary increase of over 120% for approximately 1,100 teachers employed in the state's Adarsh Schools. Under the new pay structure, monthly salaries will rise from roughly ₹10,000 to more than ₹22,000.

In addition to the pay raise, the government intends to extend service benefits to these educators on a model similar to Kendriya Vidyalayas to improve working conditions. The Chief Minister stated that the decision aims to correct a long-standing injustice, noting that teachers had served with dedication for nearly two decades despite minimal compensation.

The Adarsh Schools are CBSE-affiliated and currently serve more than 15,000 students. Mann emphasized that teacher welfare is directly linked to educational quality, asserting that secure and respected educators provide better education to students.
