Punjab government approves rural development plan and addresses security concerns
Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari addressed several provincial matters during a cabinet meeting, criticizing political leaders who refuse to label Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) as a terrorist organization. Bukhari also raised concerns regarding mineral licensing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, alleging that an excessive number of licenses were issued between 2013 and 2024, potentially benefiting family-owned companies. She noted that Punjab has taken strict action to cancel several licenses on the border to ensure transparency.
In separate development news, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved a project to transform rural areas into model villages. This initiative includes the introduction of the ‘Khushhal Dehat Act 2026’ and the launch of pilot projects in 120 villages. The plan involves forming village committees led by Assistant Commissioners and composed of both public and government representatives, such as teachers and health officials. The project aims to improve rural infrastructure through the construction of sewerage systems, drainage, and paved streets.
