Punjab government offers free schooling for low‑income children

At a high‑level meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, progress on the province’s modern school network, the “Nawaz Sharif Centre of Excellence,” was reviewed. The plan stipulates that children from families earning up to 200,000 rupees per month will receive fully free education, with no tuition fees charged. Each class will admit only 30 students to ensure quality teaching, and 10 % of seats will be reserved for fee‑paying families. The initiative aims to expand these modern schools to every division, district and tehsil across Punjab, extending quality education to remote areas.

The policy is presented as a major step toward restoring public confidence in government schools and broadening access to internationally‑standard education throughout the province.
