Punjab government targets overseas gangsters through new tracking cell

Punjab Cabinet Minister Aman Arora announced that the state government is taking a strict stance against gangsterism, specifically targeting criminals operating from abroad. Arora highlighted the success of the ‘Overseas Fugitive Tracking and Extradition Cell’ (OFTEC), which was established to pursue fugitives across borders.

In just seven months, the OFTEC has successfully brought 10 wanted fugitives back to India through deportation or extradition. Additionally, 21 other extradition proposals are currently pending with the central government. Arora emphasized that the administration under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is committed to eliminating drugs and gangsterism, ensuring that such elements cannot conduct illegal activities from either Punjab or foreign soil.
