Punjab government to provide 125,000 e-bikes to students

The Punjab government has launched the ‘CM Maryam Nawaz E-Bike Scheme’, which will provide more than 125,000 electric bikes to talented male and female students across the province. The initiative covers students from both government and private educational institutions.

Under the scheme, successful applicants will benefit from a zero down payment requirement. Monthly installments are expected to be approximately Rs3,000. To reduce the financial burden on students, the Punjab government will cover all interest and insurance costs. The e-bikes will feature lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, and the program includes free safety items such as helmets and safety rods, as well as a free two-day riding training session.

Applications are scheduled to open this Friday via an official portal, with a target to distribute the bikes within six weeks. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has also indicated potential future expansions of the scheme to include government employees, various departments, and public delivery riders.
