Punjab Governor leads anti-drug walkathon in Chandigarh
Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria flagged off an ‘Anti-Drug and Wellness Walkathon’ at Sukhna Lake to promote awareness against substance abuse. Organized by the Chandigarh Administration’s Department of Social Welfare under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, the event encouraged participants to take a pledge to stay drug-free.
During the event, Kataria emphasized that achieving a drug-free India requires collective action from the government, families, and communities. He expressed specific concern regarding the influx of illegal drugs from the Pakistani side, suggesting that such cross-border trafficking often involves internal facilitation.
The program also included the felicitation of several international athletes, including judo player Angle Yadav, shooter Sainyam, and fencers Pranshi Arora and Yashkeerat Kaur Hayer, to highlight the importance of healthy lifestyles and positive role models for the youth.
