Punjab & Haryana High Court denies bail to lawyer Vikas Kumar, grants bail to businessman Rohit Kumar Gupta

The Punjab and Haryana High Court refused bail to advocate Vikas Kumar, who the Central Bureau of Investigation alleges conspired to manipulate court proceedings to seize land belonging to the Guru Nanak Vidhya Bhandar Trust in Delhi. The court noted a prima facie case of participation in an organised criminal network aimed at usurping the trust's property.

In a separate matter, the same high court granted regular bail to Rohit Kumar Gupta, proprietor of M/s Maa Steel, who had been arrested on accusations of fraudulently claiming input tax credit worth roughly ₹9.96 crore. The court considered the documentary nature of the evidence, Gupta's cooperation with investigators, and the length of his pre‑trial detention in deciding to release him on bail.
