Punjab Kings begin off-season training camp in New Chandigarh
The Punjab Kings IPL franchise has launched a five-day off-season training camp at the New International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh. Commencing on August 11, the camp is designed to focus exclusively on individual skill development, allowing players to refine specific aspects of their game away from the pressures of competitive match play.
The participating group includes a mix of established players and emerging talent: Prabhsimran Singh, Shashank Singh, Harpreet Brar, Pyla Avinash, Praveen Dubey, and Nehal Wadhera. Assistant coach Trevor Gonsalves is overseeing the daily drills and technical sessions.
This initiative is the first in a series of planned off-season programs. The franchise intends to roll out additional camps in the coming months, targeting different player groups with a dual emphasis on skill fine-tuning and fitness conditioning. This strategy aims to build a strong foundation ahead of the 2027 Indian Premier League season, following a 2026 campaign where the team, led by Shreyas Iyer, finished fifth and narrowly missed the playoffs.
