Punjab launches interest‑free housing loan scheme for low‑income families
The Punjab provincial government has introduced two interest‑free loan programmes – Apni Chhat, Mehfooz Chhat and Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar – to help low‑income households repair roofs, renovate homes or add an extra floor. Eligible applicants can receive loans of Rs500,000 to Rs1 million, provided they are permanent residents of Punjab, aged 21‑60, own a property up to 5 marlas in urban areas or 10 marlas in rural areas, have a clean financial record and no serious criminal conviction.
Applications are submitted online through the official portal, where users create an account, select the loan category and upload required documents such as CNIC, property ownership (Fard) and house photographs. Facilitation desks are also available at Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner offices, and a toll‑free helpline (0800‑09100) offers assistance.
