Punjab launches subsidized electric bike scheme for 100,000 students
The Punjab government has launched applications for the Chief Minister’s Electric Bike Scheme, an initiative designed to provide 100,000 subsidized electric bikes to students across the province. Announced by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the program is open to students enrolled in both government and private schools, colleges, and universities, covering more than 33,000 educational institutions.
Under the subsidy, the total cost of an electric bike is reduced from PKR 199,000 to PKR 109,000 for eligible students. To ease the financial impact, the government is offering a 36-month installment plan with monthly payments of approximately PKR 3,028. Additionally, the Punjab government will cover costs related to insurance, registration, and mark-up.
The scheme includes various color options, with pink bikes specifically designated for female students. Applications can be submitted through the official CM Punjab Electric Bike Scheme portal.
