Punjab Minister accuses BJP of drug smuggling via Gujarat border
Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of involvement in drug smuggling through the Gujarat border. Speaking amid a political standoff regarding the drug menace in Punjab, Cheema claimed that drugs are entering the country via Gujarat with BJP involvement, alleging the party is “drowning the youth of the entire country in drugs.”
Cheema further asserted that the drug problem in Punjab is “almost finished” under the current Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration, contrasting this with the period between 2007 and 2017 when the Akali Dal and BJP held power in the state.
AAP MP Sanjay Singh supported these claims, alleging a “deep conspiracy” by the BJP, Congress, and Akali Dal to discredit Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s anti-drug campaigns. Singh suggested that drug mafias previously maintained connections with members of the BJP.
