Punjab pilgrim reunited with family after 1,200km journey to Bihar

Chaman Lal, an elderly pilgrim from Fatehgarh Gujran village in Punjab, was reunited with his family after traveling over 1,200 kilometers away from his intended destination. Lal, who suffers from memory-related issues, had traveled to Amritsar on September 11 to visit Sri Harmandir Sahib under the Punjab government’s Mukhya Mantri Tirath Yatra scheme.

During the pilgrimage, Lal became separated from his group and boarded a train at the Amritsar railway station, eventually arriving in Gaya, Bihar. Upon arrival, he was distressed, hungry, and unable to communicate his identity effectively as he spoke only Punjabi.

A local resident in Gaya named Neeraj provided Lal with food and shelter for four days. To identify the man's origins, Neeraj used internet searches and ChatGPT to trace the village name provided by Lal: Fatehgarh Gujran. Following the successful identification, Neeraj personally accompanied Lal back to his home in Ludhiana district.
