Punjab police anti‑gangster task force arrests four suspects and seizes weapons

Punjab’s Anti‑Gangster Task Force carried out a large‑scale operation near Sarhind Nahar Link Road in Bathinda on June 30. Police arrested four men after an exchange of fire, during which one detainee was injured. Officers recovered a Glock 9 mm pistol, a .30‑bore pistol, five live cartridges and two empty shells from the suspects.

Investigators say the arrested individuals are linked to an illegal cross‑border arms‑trafficking network previously uncovered in Amritsar, where police seized ten advanced pistols and nine live cartridges. The Punjab police said the crackdown is part of its zero‑tolerance policy against weapon smuggling and organized crime, and further inquiries are underway to map the broader network.
