Punjab Police arrests nine in ISI-linked terror bust, 516 in anti-gangster raids

Punjab Police dismantled two Pakistan-based ISI‑backed terror modules in Amritsar, arresting nine people, including four juveniles. The operation recovered three illegal pistols, four petrol‑bottle bombs and nine live cartridges, and uncovered surveillance cameras feeding footage to foreign handlers, according to DGP Gaurav Yadav.

In a separate statewide sweep under the "Gangstran Te Vaar" campaign, police conducted 676 raids and arrested 516 individuals, bringing the total arrests since the campaign’s launch to 56,455. Six weapons were recovered, and the operation also targeted drug smugglers, seizing heroin, opium, poppy husk, tablets and cash. The anti‑gangster and anti‑drug drives are part of the Punjab Police’s broader effort to eliminate organized crime and terrorism in the state.
