Punjab Police ASI Iqbal Singh shot dead in Tarn Taran

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Iqbal Singh, who was posted with the Counter Intelligence Agency (CIA) staff in Ferozepur, was shot dead by unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants in the Tarn Taran district of Punjab on Sunday evening. The attack occurred near Naushehra Pannuan village on Lauhka Road while Singh was returning home after visiting a local Gurdwara.

This incident marks the fifth time a Punjab Police member has been shot this year. Reports indicate that foreign-based gangsters may have claimed responsibility for the killing via social media, though authorities have not independently verified these claims.

Investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the crime scene and surrounding areas to identify the attackers. The motive remains under investigation, though officials are looking into potential connections to the death of Singh’s nephew, Ajmeet Singh, who was killed in a separate shooting on September 11. While Ajmeet Singh had several criminal cases registered against him, a direct link between the two killings has not yet been established.
