Punjab Police capture Agartala‑based shooter in kabaddi promoter killing

Punjab’s Anti‑Gangster Task Force (AGTF), in coordination with central agencies and Tripura police, arrested 34‑year‑old Aditya Kapoor in Agartala. Kapoor, a resident of Amritsar, is identified as one of the shooters in the December 2025 murder of kabaddi promoter Kanwar Digvijay Singh, known as Rana Balachauria, who was shot dead during a tournament in Mohali’s Sohana village.

The operation, dubbed “Shadow Hunt,” followed earlier arrests of two other shooters, Karan Pathak and Tarandeep Singh, and a logistics aide from West Bengal. With Kapoor’s detention, all six accused—including three shooters and two logistical supporters—have been apprehended. Police say the plot was directed by foreign‑based handlers, and the successful interstate raid marks a significant breakthrough against organized crime networks linked to the case.
