Punjab Police’s ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ Campaign Arrests Over 1,500 and Seizes Weapons in 200‑Day Crackdown

Punjab’s anti‑gangster drive, dubbed “Gangstran Te Vaar,” entered its 200th day on August 8, 2026. The operation, coordinated by the Punjab Police and the Anti‑Gangster Task Force (AGTF), has conducted more than 1.09 lakh raids across the state, resulting in 1,532 arrests of proclaimed offenders and action against over 58,000 individuals linked to organised crime.

During the campaign, police recovered 990 illegal firearms, dozens of explosives, 15 hand grenades, and large drug consignments, including roughly 774 kg of heroin, 480 kg of opium and other narcotics. Cash, alleged drug proceeds and small amounts of gold were also seized. Earlier milestones included Day 198, when 633 raids led to 420 arrests and the recovery of two illegal weapons, and Day 199, with raids at 731 locations and 429 arrests.

The crackdown targets not only gang members but the broader support network—financial channels, logistics, and communications—aiming to dismantle organised‑crime structures throughout Punjab.
