Punjab police officer killed in suspected ISI-linked loyalty test

An investigation by the Amritsar Police has revealed an international conspiracy involving the murder of Punjab Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Harjit Singh. Authorities state the killing was part of a ‘loyalty test’ ordered by a Pakistani drug syndicate handler. To prove their commitment to the criminal network, suspects were allegedly instructed to murder a lone police officer and record the act on video.

ASI Harjit Singh was shot while on duty on September 17. Following the incident, Punjab Police launched a manhunt, leading to an encounter in which one suspect was killed and another, Akashdeep Singh, was apprehended. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced ₹2 crore in compensation for the officer’s family.

In a related security breach in Jammu, a 24-year-old truck driver named Aman was arrested for providing real-time surveillance to Pakistani ISI handlers. Using a camera installed near his home, he allegedly transmitted footage of military positions and supply routes to handlers via Dubai-based financial channels. This marks the second such ISI-linked intelligence operation detected in the Jammu region within four months.
