Punjab political tension rises over Parvinder Singh Jhota murder

The murder of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota in Mansa, Punjab, has triggered intense political scrutiny regarding the state's law and order situation.

Congress leaders, including Sachin Pilot and Gurjeet Singh Aujla, have criticized the Bhagwant Mann administration, alleging that individuals who speak out against drug abuse or expose government failings are being targeted. Pilot stated that the inability to prevent daylight shootings represents a significant failure of governance, suggesting the Chief Minister should take moral responsibility.

In a separate development, Jhota's father, Bhim Singh, has raised serious allegations against the police and administration following the leak of Jhota's Call Detail Records (CDR) to a private individual. Singh accused certain officials of negligence and intimidation of journalists. He has demanded an investigation into the matter and intends to escalate the issue to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, calling for the arrest and dismissal of the responsible officers.
