Punjab Power and Health Staff Strikes End After Government Concedes Demands

Sixteen unions representing the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited and staff of the Aam Aadmi Clinics ended their strikes after intensive negotiations led by Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema. The government accepted key union demands, including recognising service experience when filling regular posts for clinic staff and setting up a dedicated financial committee to examine power‑sector financial grievances, with a report due by August 15.

An ordinance to convert outsourced workers into contractual staff was also submitted, and progress was reported on related protests by sanitation and sewerage board employees. The resolution restores normal power supply and healthcare services across Punjab.
