Punjab prepares for Basant Lahore 2027 festival

The Punjab government has commenced preparations for the Basant Lahore 2027 festival, which is scheduled to take place from March 12 to March 14. Officials are working to organize the three-day event as an international-standard celebration, with plans for city-wide decorations across major roads and important locations in Lahore.

To ensure adequate supply and safety, the Lahore district administration will begin registering kite manufacturers and producers of related materials starting September 5. Manufacturers must register through a dedicated portal and obtain a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) before production begins. Authorities will monitor manufacturing sites to ensure compliance with safety regulations.

The administration has announced a zero-tolerance policy regarding prohibited materials, such as chemical-coated string and metallic wire. Only kites of approved sizes and cotton string will be permitted under the Safe Basant 2027 guidelines. While manufacturer registration begins in September, kite sellers and traders will be permitted to register in early 2027.
