Punjab School Education Department rolls out unique ID system for 15 million students
The Punjab School Education Department has begun creating a unique identification number and unified data platform for about 15 million students enrolled in government schools across the province. The digital record will let authorities retrieve a student’s status, class, age, health information and residence with a single click, and the ID will stay with the student after any school transfer, preserving the academic record throughout their schooling.
The first phase will assign IDs to students in public schools, with a later extension to private institutions after formal approval from the Punjab Chief Minister. The initiative mirrors a similar programme launched in Sindh, where every student receives a unique admission ID linked to their B‑Form and education data is integrated with NADRA, covering enrolment, attendance, performance, exam history and transfers.
