Punjab shooting incidents leave one dead and multiple injured

A series of shooting incidents in Punjab has resulted in one death and several serious injuries. In the Tarn Taran district, gunmen in a Mahindra Thar SUV opened fire on a vehicle near the Mehndipur crossing in the Khemkaran area. The attack killed Gursewak Singh, an NRI, and left Harkirat Singh and Sajan Singh in critical condition. Police have identified suspects Manjit Singh, also known as Katta, and his brother Sandeep Singh, noting conflicting claims regarding whether the motive involved an extortion case or unprovoked violence.

In a separate incident in Amritsar, two men, Sharanjit Singh and Akashdeep Singh, were shot while traveling on a motorcycle near the Tara Wala Bridge. Approximately six assailants reportedly opened fire before fleeing the scene. Local police have ruled out a gang war, instead attributing the attack to an old personal rivalry dating back several years. Investigators recovered three empty cartridge cases from the site.
