Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan sports season begins in Bathinda

The fourth season of the Punjab government’s flagship sporting initiative, ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan-2026’, has commenced in Bathinda. Inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium, the event aims to nurture athletic talent across the state.

The tournament features nearly 10 lakh players ranging from ages 14 to over 70, competing in approximately 39 sporting disciplines, including four para-sports. The initiative is designed to connect different generations and promote a healthy lifestyle among the youth. To support athletes, the state government has committed ₹12.50 crore in prize money, with funds being transferred directly to winners' accounts.

The opening ceremony included cultural performances and appearances by renowned Punjabi artists Gurdas Maan and Kulwinder Billa. The event is scheduled to conclude in Patiala on November 29.
