Puno COAR Defense Committee challenges Governor over school site delays

The Defense Committee for the High Performance School (COAR) in Puno has criticized Regional Governor Richard Hancco for failing to schedule an audience regarding the location of the school's headquarters. Jenny Flores, president of the committee, stated that despite submitting formal documentation, no meeting date has been provided. The committee has threatened protests and mobilizations involving unions and social organizations if the request remains unaddressed.

The dispute involves competing interests between Puno, Juliaca, and Lampa. While the Ministry of Education previously identified a 38,000-square-meter plot in Taparachi, Juliaca, as the approved site, the committee is demanding a technical evaluation by the National Program of Educational Infrastructure (PRONIED) and other competent entities before a final decision is made. The goal is to ensure adequate and permanent educational infrastructure for students and parents.
