À Punt Director Francisco Aura faces scrutiny over editorial failures and management

Francisco Aura, the Director General of the Valencian public broadcaster À Punt, has faced scrutiny during a hearing at the Corts Valencianes regarding editorial management and service quality. Aura admitted to an “editorial control failure” concerning the program ‘Sopa de letras’, which was purchased from Telemadrid and subsequently withdrawn after the presenter addressed the Madrid audience directly. While Aura denied allegations of manipulation and refused to resign, political groups PSPV and Compromís have called for his departure.

Simultaneously, the union Intersindical has accused Aura’s management of causing “reputational damage” to the broadcaster. The union criticized the outsourcing of news content, a perceived shift toward Spanish-language programming at the expense of Valencian, and the destruction of jobs through what they described as a “disguised redundancy process.” They further noted that the workforce remains precarious and understaffed without a new collective agreement.

Despite these controversies, Aura reported financial and audience growth, noting that advertising revenue reached four million euros and that the first quarter of 2026 saw a 12% year-on-year increase.
