Punta Arenas authorities and companies coordinate GNC supply recovery

Authorities and private companies have established a technical working group to resolve compressed natural gas (GNC) supply issues in Punta Arenas. The coordination involves the Ministries of Energy and Transport, the Superintendency of Electricity and Fuels (SEC), and local public transport unions.

Key companies have committed to specific timelines to normalize service. Copec reported that its station on Avenida Bulnes 04486 will be able to operate at full capacity within the current week. Aramco is currently replacing dispensers and adapting its system to allow electronic payments, a feature that would make its plant the only one in the country to offer this technology for GNC. Aramco expects to resume service within approximately 15 days, pending technical certifications.

To manage current demand, Copec noted that while supply is available 24 hours a day, demand is significantly lower between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM, suggesting drivers use these hours to facilitate smoother refueling during the normalization period.
