Patagonia Folk Festival XLV Concludes with Record Audience and Awards
The XLV edition of the Festival Folclórico en la Patagonia wrapped up in Punta Arenas with a full house and a historic digital audience of about 120,000 viewers. The competition awarded first place to "La Mansa Fiesta Mitológica" by composer Adrián Ojeda Cárdenas, performed by Patricio González and Los Navegantes, receiving a prize of $7.2 million and the traditional "Ñandú" statuette. Second place went to "Curanto de mis Recuerdos" by Daniel Felipe Graglia, and Sol Naveillán was named Best Interpreter for her rendition of "Ay Mijo que nos Cuenta," a song written by her father Luis Alfonso Venegas.
The festival closed with a headline concert by Álvaro Henríquez & Pettinellis, followed by remarks from Mayor Claudio Radonich, who called the event "the most watched in its history" and highlighted the cross‑border collaboration with Argentine media. Argentine folk artist Facundo Agüero also took part, representing Argentina with his song "Raíz del Sur" and emphasizing Patagonian musical heritage.
Organizers noted the event’s strong social component, with ticket entry linked to food donations for a local bilingual school, and praised the blend of traditional and contemporary sounds that drew audiences from Chile, Argentina and beyond.
