Punta Cana Airport Leads Tourist Arrivals and Honors Airline Excellence in June 2026

The Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) held its annual awards ceremony, recognizing airlines, ground handlers, concessionaires and cargo agents for high performance in 2025. Recipients were judged on objective metrics such as slot compliance, operational safety, passenger‑satisfaction scores and special service categories, with the ASQ (Airport Service Quality) awards highlighting the best‑rated carriers by travelers.

In June 2026 the airport handled 53 % of all tourists arriving in the Dominican Republic – 816,517 passengers – marking a 6 % rise over the same month in 2025 and a 39 % increase compared with 2019. A total of 5,986 flights landed at PUJ, a 4.8 % increase year‑over‑year, most of them from the United States (53 %), followed by Panama, Colombia, Puerto Rico and Canada. The surge underlines PUJ’s role as the main gateway for the country's tourism sector.

These outcomes reinforce the airport’s position as a key tourism hub in the Caribbean region, reflecting both operational excellence and growing passenger demand.
