Punta Cana and Bávaro violence prompts security calls

A violent clash between several Haitian men in Downtown Punta Cana on Sunday involved knives and stones, causing panic among shopkeepers, employees and visitors. Witnesses filmed the incident and posted the footage on social media. Authorities have not confirmed any injuries or arrests, but residents and merchants have urged the National Police to increase patrols and improve safety in the popular tourist zone.

Around the same time, two men identified as vehicle‐window cleaners fought at the Coco Loco traffic light in Bávaro, also using knives, stones and bottles. The public confrontation drew criticism on social media, with citizens demanding greater municipal and police oversight of street‑level workers and expressing concern about the impact on the area's tourism image. No official details on injuries or detentions have been released for this incident either.
