Punta Cana expands digital, logistical, and tourism infrastructure
Punta Cana is undergoing significant structural diversification across the digital, logistical, and tourism sectors.
In the digital sphere, Google is set to establish an International Digital Exchange Port in the Dominican Republic. This project includes the deployment of four international subsea cables, with the first connection expected in Punta Cana by the end of 2026. The initiative, part of a broader strategy to position the country as a regional hub for artificial intelligence, involves an initial investment exceeding US$500 million.
Logistical capabilities are also expanding through an agreement between Centurion Capital Partners and Emergent Cold LatAm (ECLA). They will develop a temperature-controlled food storage and distribution facility at Centurion Business Parks Punta Cana. The center is designed to handle up to 62,000 tons of frozen goods annually to support the region's hotel and food industries.
In the tourism sector, Aerolíneas Argentinas will launch daily flights from Buenos Aires to Punta Cana starting in January 2027. This increase in frequency follows a 2024 bilateral agreement between Argentina and the Dominican Republic that removed previous flight frequency caps, facilitating greater connectivity between the two nations.
