Moon Palace The Grand Hotel staff assault sparks security review in Punta Cana

A hotel employee at Moon Palace The Grand in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, violently attacked guests in a restaurant, throwing food, kitchen utensils and knives during an apparent rage episode captured on video on July 17, 2026. The incident quickly spread on social media, prompting widespread attention.

The Palace Company, the hotel’s operator, issued an official statement saying it immediately activated internal emergency protocols, provided assistance to those involved, and notified the local authorities. The company emphasized its zero‑tolerance policy for violence, pledged full cooperation with the investigation and affirmed that hotel operations continue as normal.

The videos show the employee hurling objects at diners, causing panic among patrons. No official cause for the employee’s outburst has been disclosed, and authorities have not yet released details of any legal actions. The resort, one of the largest all‑inclusive properties in the Caribbean, has faced scrutiny over safety procedures, though management maintains that guest security remains a top priority.
