Punta Cana to Host 17th International Youth Baseball Tournament with 60 Teams

From 18 to 24 May, Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic will stage the 17th International Youth Baseball (JDM) tournament, one of the Caribbean’s premier small‑league events. The competition will feature 60 teams from ten countries – Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Mexico, Aruba, Guatemala, Cuba, United States, Colombia, Panama and the host nation – bringing more than 4,000 athletes, coaches, families and supporters.

Organiser José Dijols, president of Turismo Deportivo Punta Cana, said the tournament will boost the local economy and showcase the region’s sport‑tourism offerings. The event is sponsored by Banreservas, which provides the championship cup, and the Ministry of Tourism. Former Major League player Omar Vizquel will serve as the tournament’s official ambassador and receive a special recognition. Competitions will be held across age categories from 3‑4 up to senior +17, with the finals and award ceremony slated for the Coco Bongo Show & Disco venue.

The tournament aims to promote baseball participation, cultural exchange and family‑friendly tourism, reinforcing the Dominican Republic’s position as a host for major international sporting events.
