Punta Manara shelter reopens in Sestri Levante
The Punta Manara bivouac, a scenic shelter overlooking the Gulf of Tigullio in Sestri Levante, has officially reopened following extensive restoration work. The Municipality of Sestri Levante invested 40,000 euros to revitalize the structure, which serves as a vital rest point for tourists and residents on the popular Punta Manara hiking trail.
The renovation included repairing the roof and waterproofing, replacing gutters, reinforcing external walls, restoring interior walls, and servicing existing wooden window frames. Due to the location, materials had to be transported to the site on foot.
Management of the facility has been entrusted to the association L'Avventura della Carità - Operazione Mato Grosso through a public tender. This organization, known for its solidarity and volunteer projects, will oversee the maintenance and operation of the shelter. The reopening was marked by an inauguration attended by municipal officials, the new managers, and volunteers from the Sentieri a Levante association.
