Punta Mogotes dispute moves to court after failed agreement
The administration of the Punta Mogotes complex has moved to the judicial system following a failure to reach an agreement between the Province and the Municipality of General Pueyrredon. After a final conciliation hearing on August 31, 2024, the parties were unable to settle their dispute, prompting the Administrative Litigation Court No. 1 to await a judicial decision.
The conflict centers on a claim by the Municipality to regain control of the seaside resorts. Currently, the complex is managed by the Administration Punta Mogotes (APM), an entity composed of 70% provincial and 30% municipal interests. The Municipality is seeking to cancel existing debts with the APM to facilitate the transfer of the tourist complex to municipal jurisdiction.
Pending legal matters include a resolution regarding an injunction filed by the Municipality to halt a bidding process announced by the Province. The dispute follows a rejection of the Municipality's initial claims by the provincial government earlier this year.
