Punta Querandí demands reparations from Nordelta for destroying indigenous sites

The Punta Querandí Indigenous Community has submitted demands for historical, territorial, cultural, and environmental reparations to the Municipality of Tigre. These demands follow an Accumulative Environmental Impact Study (EIAA) presented by Nordelta S.A., which acknowledges that construction activities since 1998 destroyed or buried indigenous sites and ancestral burial grounds at Arroyo Sarandí 1 and 2.

The community is seeking several specific measures, including the reburial of 42 ancestors in their original territory, the establishment of an Ancestral Memory Space, and the provision of funds from Nordelta to support indigenous communities and populations within the district. The community has campaigned for two decades against the expansion of private residential developments into the wetlands of Tigre and Escobar, citing the destruction of sacred sites.
