Vega Baja agricultural exports reach record 1.702 billion euros

The Vega Baja region in Alicante has reached a record agricultural export value of 1.702 billion euros, according to the Economic Yearbook of the Province of Alicante presented by INECA. The study highlights that agriculture has become Alicante’s primary commercial asset, with the province exporting nearly three times more agricultural products than it imports.

Despite this growth, INECA president Alfredo Millá noted that agricultural productivity in Alicante stands at 56% of the national average. He emphasized the need for modernization, innovation, and efficient water management to transform high export volumes into greater per capita wealth and quality employment. The Vega Baja region, which houses over 362,000 inhabitants, accounts for 37.3% of the province's agri-food employment.

In related local developments, Orihuela is hosting various cultural and commercial initiatives. The city will host the Teodomiro Awards Gala at the Teatro Circo, featuring theatrical performances and a symphonic-choral concert. Additionally, the Orihuela City Council has launched a commercial revitalization campaign with family-oriented activities to support local small businesses.
