Purdue University and Elanco Animal Health Incorporated have broken ground on the One Health Research Institute in Indianapolis. The 150,000-square-foot facility will serve as a central component of the One Health Innovation District.

The shared-use institute is designed to foster collaboration between researchers, clinicians, industry partners, and entrepreneurs. It will feature advanced research laboratories, incubators, and collaborative learning spaces aimed at addressing interconnected health issues involving humans, animals, plants, and the environment.

Project leaders stated the facility aims to drive innovation in areas such as therapeutics, diagnostics, digital health, and sustainable agricultural technologies. The initiative is intended to strengthen the food supply chain and provide educational opportunities, including internships and co-ops, for students.
