Purdue Boilermakers football sees midseason turnaround
The Purdue Boilermakers football program is experiencing a midseason turnaround under head coach Barry Odom. After starting the 2026 season with a 1-3 record, the team has secured two consecutive conference wins against Illinois and Minnesota.
The offense has seen significant improvement, driven largely by quarterback Ryan Browne. Browne has transitioned from a high-turnover player to an efficient passer, recording 1,550 passing yards and nine touchdowns with only one interception through five games. The team's rushing attack is bolstered by transfer running back Fame Ijeboi, who recently recorded a career-high 195 yards against Minnesota.
While the team faced early criticism regarding coaching and defensive performance, Odom has maintained a focus on incremental progress. The Boilermakers are currently positioned to make a push for a bowl game.
